The ministry of health is one of the largest government ministries in Seychelles, both in terms of its number of employees and the size of government budget allocated to it.
It is divided into a parent ministry , a health care agency , a public health authority and a national aids council .
1. The parent ministry of health is responsible for policy formulation and the monitoring and evaluation of macro-health indicators. The ministry is also responsible for human resource development for the health sector through training and continuous professional development. Additionally, it is responsible for matters of international cooperation.
2. The health care agency is responsible for preventive, curative and rehabilitative care in the primary, secondary and tertiary health care institutions.
3. The public health authority is responsible for disease prevention and control through the implementation of the public health act and policies and strategies for the prevention of non-communicable and communicable diseases.
4. The national aids council is responsible for the coordination of the national response against the hiv/aids epidemic, sexually transmitted infections and other related infections.
5. The national institute of health and social studies has its own charter as a vocational training centre. Currently it functions very much as a division of the ministry.

The attainment, by all people in Seychelles of the highest level of physical, social, mental and spiritual health and living in harmony with nature.
